UC Moves
Moving More in May
UC Moves is an annual UC-wide well-being initiative that promotes wellness and an active lifestyle in the UC Community. This year’s event encouraged UCSB staff and faculty to “move more” for three weeks in May while competing against other UC campuses.
All participants used the Summertime Challenge app. The app tracked everyone’s daily steps and other fitness activities they completed and manually entered into the app. This program included weekly informative emails and classes such as yoga and a full-body workout class.
UCSB had a total of 324 participants and completed a total of 75,690,275 steps! There were 22 teams, in which all participants could win a Fitbit. Congratulations, and great job on representing Gauchos!
Shout out to everyone who participated! Special kudos go to Pedro Vences for his total steps of 933,873, which put him in the lead for our campus. His steps are equivalent to walking over 400 miles! We finished the challenge with a “Wellness Walk” around the lagoon. A big thank you to Kaiser for funding the program. Hope you all enjoyed it and keep the momentum going!
