The 9th annual Deepening Understanding Conference is on Wednesday, March 27.This year’s conference theme is “The Strength Within,” and we are excited to announce that our Keynote speaker is Willie Brown! Join us for this opportunity to hear from Willie about what makes HDAE strong and the source of his own strength. Learning opportunities are as diverse as our staff. We will have 13 different workshops to help you discover your strength in diversity and inclusivity. Some offerings include understanding gender and pronouns, leadership through DEI, helping the next generation navigate higher education, resources available to staff on campus, and how supporting local minority businesses can strengthen our larger Santa Barbara community.    

All of the offerings will give us the tools to create understanding and inner strength to uplift our diverse campus community to enhance the culture on campus and our larger central coast community. Those who come to the keynote address will enjoy breakfast from our excellent campus catering, and those who join us for the whole day of activities will be invited to join us for lunch after Dr. Ana Laidley gives us our closing Samba presentation.
