Resident Assistant of the Year
Ciara Wong, UCSB RA, Honored at PACURH Conference
We are excited to announce that Ciara Wong, a second year Resident Assistant in Santa Catalina North Tower, was chosen by the Pacific Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (PACURH) as the 2017-2018 RA of the Year for the Pacific Region (British Columbia down to Hawaii)!
Ciara, a fourth year sociology major with a double minor in applied psychology and education, has made a lasting impact on UCSB’s housing community. Her involvement immediately began as a first year when she served as the Environmental Awareness Chair for Hall Council. This taste of what housing and the Residence Housing Association (RHA) has to offer sparked something within Ciara, ushering her into a bright future within housing. She went on to work as the Representative at Large for Santa Catalina, an RHA Summer Intern, and served on RHA’s bidding committee.
Throughout all of her involvements, Ciara has made and continues to make her mark. On top of all of the general RA responsibilities, Ciara provides genuine and consistent support and guidance for eight first year RAs that are on her staff. She also goes above and beyond when it comes to programming. Known in the housing community has the “queen of programming,” Ciara hopes to exceed her program record of 67 from last year. Ciara’s programs stand out due to their unique nature and their intention of fostering a safe and fun space for all residents.
As it is clear, Ciara has played an instrumental role within the housing community through her presence within the residence halls, RHA, NRHH and hall council. However, her impact does not end here. She extends herself into the UCSB campus and Santa Barbara community, making a difference wherever she goes. The UCSB housing community has been fortunate to have Ciara as a part of the team for the past four years. We are so proud of her for being recognized as RA of the Year by PACURH!
