30-Day Outdoor Challenge

Santa Barbara County is known for its beautiful mountains, beaches, and almost always nice weather. But, did you know that we Americans spend 90 percent of our lives indoors? Between commuting to and from our jobs, spending 8+ hours a day working and going about our normal daily routine we see nature more on our TVs than we do in real life. Housing, Dining & Auxiliary Enterprise’s (HDAE) 1st 30-day outdoor challenge was meant to encourage participants to spend more time outdoors while being active. The main purpose was to commit to being present, explore, enjoy, and protect nature. Some participants focused on gardening while others took time out of their day to go on a walk. Congratulations to all the participants and to the prize winner of an REI gift card - Eriko MacDonald (pictured at left opting outside on a horse)!
