The Return of Summer Conferences

Have you noticed something missing these past two summers? Perhaps the youthful exuberance of sports and leadership camps, of outreach programs experiencing our beautiful campus for the first time, and the buzz of visiting scholars sharing their research? We are pleased to report that campus leadership has approved a full return of our summer conference operations!

Hospitality remains a passion for our team. Even while assisting with other important initiatives during the pandemic which included contact tracing, Quarantine/Isolation Housing, COVID Response analytics/reporting/administrative support, and supplemental hotel housing for students, we continued to uncover new ways of delivering an outstanding UCSB summer experience with COVID protocols in place. We also worked with MarCom on the redesign of our new Conference & Hospitality Services website, and promoted it with a Ted Lasso inspired kick-off video.

Pre-pandemic, we secured sustainable Final Straws as a thank you gift for our client organizers, and we can’t wait to give them out this summer. Check out the cool story behind the UCSB Alum product founder.

We are thrilled to welcome our conference clients back to campus. To date, we have 120 programs scheduled to come through our doors this summer (currently 90 returning groups and 30 new groups). We’ve successfully begun hiring our team of 80+ students who make this all possible. The UCSB spirit is stronger than ever. We are grateful for the support, dedication, and collaboration of HDAE throughout this journey with us.
