  • The Special Olympics World Games 2015 were held in Los Angeles July 25 – August 2. Goleta hosted athletes from Bhutan, Panama, and Qatar, and they stayed in Manzanita Village. Angelica Diaz, Conference Services, invited members of the campus community to show our Gaucho spirit and cheer on the athletes as they left UCSB on their way to Los Angeles to compete. Olé! Olé! Olé!

  • This year the GIVE Sale raised $32,000! 340 volunteers collected and sorted approximately 29.4 tons of student belongings donated during move out. 100% of the proceeds were distributed to non-profit organizations in the Isla Vista community.

  • Lisa Slavid, Coordinator of Organizational & Performance Management for H&RS, and now famous cartoonist, had one of her Peadoodles cartoons posted on HuffPost Canada Style’s Facebook page where it garnered 3,500+ likes and 23,000+ shares. But that’s not all, soon thereafter George Takei of Star Trek fame posted it on his Facebook page where it accrued a whopping 215,000+ likes and 148,000+ shares. Congratulations Lisa!

 

  • Residential Dining Services was recognized as a college innovator in the July 2015 edition of Foodservice Equipment & Supplies magazine.
