The Healthy Holiday Challenge eight-week program came back this year! This is a UC-wide program offered to staff and faculty during the holiday season, which can be a stressful time of year with traveling, buying gifts, and finding the time to spend with loved ones. Participants received weekly emails with resources and topics (e.g. Gift of Financial Health and Simple Ways to Sneak in Fitness). Some individuals chose to submit their weekly pledges and to share their thoughts and/or a favorite recipe on a Kudoboard. The program included live webinars by Kaiser, a nutrition workshop, and yoga classes. Congratulations to the 219 participants who signed up for the challenge! Participants were entered in a drawing for two Fitbits (Becky Villaneda of Residential & Community Living at right with her new Fitbit) and four mental health toolkits (Jasmine Guerra of Residential Operations at left with a mental health toolkit). Keep an eye out for next year's challenge!

This year we had the pleasure of hosting the Campus-wide “Ola” Physical Activity Campaign. This 10-week program encouraged participants to record their daily physical activity with their mobile or desktop device to reveal Hawaii’s famous tourist attractions plus out-of-the-way gems known to locals. Participants had the opportunity to join a team or to participate individually. The Ola Campaign began after Thanksgiving break and allowed participants to invite household members to join. A weekly drawing gave all participants a chance to win a Fitbit and the team in the lead received sling bags. Participants had access to recipes, wellness reminders, and could share pictures or messages through the Ola platform. Congratulations to the 137 participants who signed up — together we traveled 48,554,799 steps! A big thank you to Kaiser for providing us with ten Fitbits. Pictured: Maria Valeriano, San Rafael Residence Hall Housekeeping and Ola Challenge winner!
