Micro-Articles about Our Staff & Communities

New Custom Stole Program at the UC Santa Barbara Campus Store.

The Campus Store is now offering personalized custom stoles for commencement. This exciting new program is provided by CollegeWear and was implemented by Michele Kunz. The customized stoles showcase our graduates' unique experiences, affiliations, and achievements. Great for Greek organizations, campus clubs, and athletic teams. The unique online interface allows anyone to express their individuality by personalizing their own stole with a wide range of graphics, colors, patterns, and fonts. Athletes, club members, and trailblazing first-generation graduates can curate a stole that tells their UCSB story like no other. These custom stoles, worn in addition to the official UCSB stole, will be available to order during the 2024 Grad Fair on March 6 and 7, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the UCen Lobby in front of the Campus Store entrance, and will make a great addition to commemorate the graduation experience.

Holiday Challenge

HDAE once again hosted the annual UC system-wide “healthy holiday challenge!” The program took place November 13, 2023 through January 5, 2024. It was designed to promote wellness during the holiday and into the new year.

The challenge encompassed various aspects of health and wellbeing, offering participants valuable tips and resources to establish and maintain healthy habits. Some weeks focused on mindfulness practices with the power of gratitude, while others focused on nutrition and physical activity. Participants received weekly emails with informative resources, yoga classes, full-body workout classes, and a nutrition workshop led by registered dietician Jennifer Swartzentruber. This year, we had 184 participants, and two lucky winners won Fitbits provided by Kaiser Permanente, including HDAE's own Herlinda Carillo. Congratulations and great job on representing our Res Ops team!

We hope this challenge gives staff the foundation to continue to live a healthy lifestyle and promotes a culture of wellbeing.
