Micro-Articles about Our Staff & Communities

The HDAE Arts & Culture Committee is excited to partner with San Rafael Resident Assistant Shoshana (pictured), Art from Scrap, and UCSB's Environmental Leadership Incubator to install four Little Free Libraries (LFLs) in the Channel Island 5 Residence Hall area. The unveiling of the first library near San Nicolas Residence Hall was on May 7. The UCSB Campus Store is collecting books to stock the remaining three libraries once installed and the two LFLs at Family Student Housing. Give new life to books you may no longer need and drop them off at the Campus Store!

Do you take the MTD Bus? If so, MTD live transit feed is now on our campus map. Users who visit map.ucsb.edu directly can access the info via the Transit tab in the navigation. When you see a bus icon, it represents the location of a particular bus in real-time (within 30 seconds). When you click on it, the information box will tell you when that bus is expected at nearby stops. Circle icons represent bus stops, and clicking one will display upcoming departure times for bus lines at that stop. Safe travels!

The Club & Guest House's culinary team is pleased to offer a new spring and summer luncheon menu with dessert selections. The Dining Room is open to the public Tuesday-Friday, 11:30am-1:30pm. Please visit often and enjoy their latest seasonal offerings!

We chalked the block on Friday, May 12, at the HDAE Arts & Culture Committee’s Inaugural Chalk & Music Fest in front of the DeAnza Center at Manzanita Village. Thank you to HDAE staff who contributed their talents to the event! We had a fantastic time filled with music, art, and community. Stay tuned for an in-depth article in the next issue of The Compass. In the meantime, enjoy the lovely chalk drawing of a calla lily by Serin Lazaro.

Kudos to Kristi Kirkpatrick for creating the art work recently installed in the UCen Administrative office. The panel pays tribute to the rich history of the University Center. Excellent job, Kristi!
