Campus Store employees were recently trained on how to properly use a fire extinguisher. UCSB instructors educated them on the basics of fire extinguisher locations on campus, common fire hazards, proper procedures, safe evacuation routes, and more. They now have the confidence to react quickly during an emergency, thus protecting students and staff on campus. Stay calm and think fast HDAE Team!

Business & Financial Planning team members recently went to House of Clues and figured their way out of “Grandma's Attic Escape Room” in 28 minutes, tying the record! Congratulations puzzle masters!
The Campus Store is featuring the UCSB Library sponsored UCSB Reads 2023 book selection Happy City: Transforming Our Lives Through Urban Design by Charles Montgomery. The book will be available for sale throughout 2023. The Campus Store is also looking to expand its current selection of UCSB faculty and alumni authored books in the future and is featuring From Classroom to Career by Leslie Morrison "An authentic, engaging, and practical guide to help college grads thrive personally and professionally." Come by the Campus Store and check out the growing collection of faculty and alumni authored books for sale.

The Campus Store had some great entries in the pumpkin carving contest this year. Each entry received at least one vote for first place or runner up! Nine departments within the Campus Store participated in the fun. First Prize went to the Gift Department with Freddie Krueger, while the runner up was the Supplies Department with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. Congratulations to all the talented student artists! The two winning departments received coffee and sweets.
For the first time ever, University & Community Housing Services sponsored a Rental Fair on Parents & Family Weekend. It was a beautiful day for a very well attended event! Kudos to all involved in planning this event!
As usual, UCSB had a fantastic Halloween! Eight departments entered the decorating contest, including Santa Cruz Residence Hall. They swam with the sharks, their mascot!
