Micro-articles about Our Staff & Communities

Check out RHA’s Week of Welcome video! Students had a great time making new friends and memories. Kudos to our student leaders and staff advisors (Deejay, James & Isheeta) for organizing a week chock-full of fun events that helped students to get connected in an amazing environment! Side note: Deejay & James were recently quoted in the Daily Nexus regarding R&CL's Real Talk program. Enjoy!

At the Town Hall Cheer HDAE folks donated 88+ items to the AS Food Bank, and $166 to IV School for their “Bucks 4 Books" drive. Thank you to our staff for making a difference in our community, and Happy Holidays to everyone!

CONGRATULATIONS: UCSB achieved a platinum designation as a Bike Friendly University from The League of American Bicyclists. (Only 4% of the rated universities have been rated platinum!) Kudos to Transportation & Parking Services and Jamey Wagner for their role in creating an environment that fosters safe and accessible bike riding!...Camille Locklear, HDAE Human Resources Generalist, increased her already vast knowledge and expertise in Human Resources by completing the UCSB Human Resources Management Certificate, a minimum of 26 units and 7 classes...Stephen Rivard, Complex Coordinator for Santa Ynez, El Dorado, and Westwinds Apartments, was recently on the show The Price is Right where he won a pair of skis! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...and, Ernesto Villegas, Associate Director of Project Management, has a new addition to his family. Welcome to the world Arlo Villegas! He was born on December 6 at 7lbs 15oz.

One of many benefits of working for a world-class university is access to museums, libraries, entertainment, etc., much of it for free. Be sure to check out the library’s latest exhibition Campus by the Sea, and the calendar of events for the Pollock Theater which often shows movies currently in theaters.

Happy Belated Halloween! As usual, HDAE staff did not disappoint and went all out with their costume selections, which ranged from Mary Poppins to Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, and the entire Talladega Nights crew complete with a car! (Just to name a few.)

In an effort to provide a fun and safe environment away from Isla Vista during the Halloween season, The Thunderdome hosted the annual Delirium Concert. This year’s concert featured Mustard + Leikeli47 and Kenny Beats. Here are a few photos from our Events staff.
