Fun Fact: Conference & Hospitality Services has hired 69 students to assist with the 2019 summer conference front desk operations and event setups. 1 of them will be able to assist guests in American Sign Language, 1 in Chinese, 1 in Russian, 1 in Tagalog, 3 in Vietnamese, 1 in Korean, and 28 in Spanish. This multilingualism is reflected on their name badges.

Theme meals provide a platform for each Dining Commons to host a unique meal inspired by creative ideas and to display their passion for food. Carrillo staff excelled this past Spring with an Egyptian theme meal that included Lamb Fattah, Mahlab Bread, Fiteer, Umm Ali, Hawawshi, Nubian Lentil Stew, Braised Greens with Crispy Chicken, Fried Cauliflower, Egyptian Watermelon Salad, Salatat Fwakih, Alexandria Style Liver and Ful Medames, and Egyptian Fava Bean Falafel. Professor Magda Campo was extremely generous with her time in meeting with Carrillo staff to help determine menu choices and to talk through how they could achieve the highest level of authenticity considering the sheer volume of cooking and available equipment. She also provided some of the decor for the meal from her own personal collection. Dining is very grateful for her advice and support!
