With Growth comes Change... the Homefront is Evolving!

Well, 21 and all grown up. That’s the “age of adulthood” right? I’m not talking about my son, but about our Homefront newsletter. With our new name (Housing, Dining & Auxiliary Enterprises), and the addition of four new departments to our work family, the Homefront will be evolving, and it’s a perfect coming-of-age for our newsletter.

I’m sure it will improve as it expands, but I did get a bit nostalgic looking at the old articles and pictures of folks over the years. When I first started on the Homefront, we used to play with toys on Judy Edner’s conference table, thinking up ideas and topics. It’s still a fun group to meet with and we laugh as much as we work.

Stay tuned for all the exciting changes starting this fall with San Joaquin, the new Portola Dining Commons, and a new newsletter! As always, give us your ideas and suggestions for articles. We’re also seeking proposals for a new newsletter name. Please submit ideas to Julie Levangie at jlevangie@housing.ucsb.edu.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Homefront, whether writing, designing, taking photos, or being part of our readership. It’s been a fun ride, and we’re not done yet.

A special thank you to Mark Rousseau, our wittiest and longest-serving volunteer of the Homefront team -- since the beginning in 1996!
