Strategic Planning 2016-2017

Planning for a Year of Growth and Transition

Let me share something that most housing folks already know and have been actively working on: 2016-2017 is going to be a busy year full of growth and transition! With an eye towards how many facilities we will be launching, as well as an additional 600+ students admitted to UCSB, this year’s strategic outcome is simply geared towards this growth and transition. The official 2016-2017 Strategic Planning outcome is: Planning and Implementing for Growth and Expansion. We will continue to do this by leveraging our strategic priorities of “Responsible Use of Resources” and “Partnering for Success,” as well as using the lenses of our four vision statements: World Class Facilities, Talented Staff Who Care, Continuous Innovation, and Focus on the Whole Person. What does this all boil down to in regular language?  

• Teamwork: Let’s continue to look out for each other and help each other succeed, while keeping in mind that a lot of our colleagues will be experiencing transition themselves.

• Welcoming and caring: Let’s continue to welcome and care for and about all of our residents. They are excited to be attending this world-class institution, and you play an important role in the success of their communities and academic journey.

• “Growth-mindset”: Let’s keep being life-long-learners, knowing that the opportunities to learn and try new things is a part of life, and helping students and each other to grow and succeed is what we do.
