The Open House for incoming students.

During UCSBs annual Spring Insight on April 11th, 150+ H&RS staff welcomed upwards of 12,000 prospective Gauchos and their families to our Housing Fair set up in Storke Plaza. Over the course of the day potential students had the opportunity to learn about the UCSB housing experience, and were able to ask our professional and student staff a myriad of questions. Throughout the plaza there were mock double and triple rooms set-up with actual residence hall furniture; 50+ table displays, posters and flyers describing our Living Learning Communities, residence halls, apartments, and future housing; and booths representing various areas within housing, including Residential Dining Services and the Community Housing Office. Three big screen TVs also broadcasted videos and virtual tours. New this year were 10-foot banners welcoming people to Storke Plaza, a table for Spanish Translators, and the Fun Zone with raffle prizes, music, ping-pong, and photos of fun events that occur in the residence halls. The Dining Commons were open for guests so future students could get a taste of the awesome food they'll be eating next year. Based on the campus survey, UCSB gave a great first impression! (94% of responders marked "Very Good" or "Excellent" about their overall experience that day. ) Kudos to our talented and caring staff for their excellent work on creating a successful Housing Fair and letting future Gauchos know that we are proud to be a part of their UCSB experience.
