Isaias Guerrero's Daughter Earns a Ph.D.

Thanks to the effort of her parents and her dedication, Ana Guerrero achieved one of her dreams and obtained her doctorate at UC Santa Barbara. Across her social media networks, Ana shared her inspiring story as a way to make sure her parents got recognition for all of the support they have given her.

"My mother has made a living cleaning houses, since we arrived from Mexico. While growing up she would take me with her during all of the school breaks. That is when I learned I needed to take advantage of opportunities given to me and had been denied to her and all the women in my family".

Also referring to her father, Guerrero shared a fun fact: “My father works for maintenance of the institution where I got my doctorate! Yes, I would see him on my way to class. Seeing him was a constant reminder of how hard he works for us, it kept me moving forward on the days I felt I couldn't."

Her father, Isaias Guerrero began working as a groundskeeper in 2006, becoming the HDAE Grounds Department Auto Technician in 2015.
