Items Donated by UCSB Students Benefit Nonprofit Organization

Since 1990, Give IV has accepted donations during Isla Vista and UCSB’s move out week in June. The donations include unwanted clothing, kitchenware, canned and packaged foods, books, furniture, and miscellaneous items. Everything that is collected is sold at a giant sale and 100% of the proceeds benefit organizations.

This year a total of $30,400 funds were raised with the help of 164 volunteers who worked 1,251 hours. (Number of hours worked by paid staff = 1,907.) 1,998 lbs of food were donated to the Associated Students’ Food Bank. Poundage saved from landfill totaled 28.5035 tons.

The beneficiaries included Adopt-a-Block Isla Vista Recreation and Park District, Associated Students Food Bank, Children’s Camping Trip - Isla Vista Recreation and Park District, Isla Vista Elementary School Science Camp Scholarship Fund, Isla Vista Initiatives Fund, Isla Vista Young Athletes Fund, Isla Vista Youth Projects, Optimist Club of UCSB, Santa Barbara Soccer, Safety Town of Santa Barbara County, Saint George Family Youth Center in Isla Vista, and St. Michael’s University Church.
